This week’s #FundingFriday post highlights grant opportunities open to nonprofit organizations working both in the U.S. and abroad. The funding programs span education, community-building, and agriculture.
1. Department of State, U.S. Mission to India – Framing the Debate on Climate Change
Through this program, the U.S. Embassy in India seeks to raise awareness about the complex conversations surrounding climate change among the college youth in the North Indian states and territories of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Successful proposals will lay out plans for engaging university students in the major cities and educational hubs in these states.
2. Department of Homeland Security – FY 2016 Countering Violent Extremism Grants
The FY2016 CVE Grant Program seeks to develop new efforts and expand existing efforts at the community level to counter violent extremist recruitment and radicalization to violence. The program funds activities that enhance the resilience of communities being targeted by violent extremists for recruitment, provide alternatives to individuals who have started down a road to violent extremism, and create or amplify alternative messages to terrorist/violent extremist recruitment and radicalization efforts.
3. Department of Education – Promise Neighborhoods Program: Implementation Grant Competition
The Promise Neighborhoods program aims to significantly improve the educational and developmental outcomes of children and youth in our most distressed communities. It also aims to transform those communities by increasing the capacity of eligible organizations that are focused on achieving results for children and youth throughout an entire neighborhood.
The Walking the Walk on Combating Gender-Based Violence program in Myanmar supports advocacy efforts in Myanmar to increase understanding among local and union level government officials and parliamentarians about legislative actions and budgetary considerations needed to combat gender-based violence. The program also supports networking events, peer to peer education campaigns, community-led dialogues, and interventions engaging men and boys.
The overall goal of this program is to assist socially disadvantaged and veteran farmers and ranchers in owning and operating farms and ranches, while increasing their participation in agricultural programs and services provided by the U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This program will assist eligible community-based and non-profit organizations, higher education institutions, and tribal entities in providing outreach and technical assistance to socially disadvantaged and veteran farmers and ranchers.
