Here are 4 intriguing federal government grants that were posted this week. Most of these grants relate to educational activities across different subject areas, including agriculture, emergency response, and healthcare.
1. Department of Agriculture (USDA) – Higher Education Multicultural Scholars Program
The purpose of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s (NIFA) competitive undergraduate scholarship grant program is to increase the multicultural diversity of the food and agricultural scientific and professional workforce. It is also to advance the educational achievement of all Americans by providing competitive grants to colleges and universities.
2. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – Homeland Security Preparedness Technical Assistance Program
The Homeland Security Preparedness Technical Assistance Program (HSPTAP) is established to build State, local, tribal and territorial (SLTT) capabilities to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from major events, including threats or acts of terrorism.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will provide financial assistance to support the National Homeland Security Consortium (NHSC) and the Governors Homeland Security Advisors Council (GHSAC).
3. Agency for International Development (USAID) – Integrated HIV/AIDS Program
USAIDs Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Mission seeks applications for funding that will assist one or more recipients to carry out the five-year Integrated HIV/AIDS Program (IHAP), which intends to work with the Government of the DRC to strengthen the continuum of care for quality HIV/AIDS services in select health zones to achieve epidemic control. This will be one of the main implementing mechanisms for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) in the DRC.
The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) is seeking applications for funding under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2016 with this solicitation whose purpose is to support the development, enhancement and sustainability of nationwide correctional leadership.
NIC has been committed for years to improving healthcare administrator’s performance by providing excellent leadership and management as well as additional training for healthcare professionals. The next step is to create a blended training curriculum for this important role in corrections.

I think communities that are under-represented in the agricultural sciences have many talented students. They only need a little support to reach their potential.
Colleges and Universities can use this funding to support undergraduate scholarships that increase the multicultural diversity of the food and agricultural scientific and professional workforce, and advance the educational achievement of all Americans by providing competitive grants to colleges and universities…
