#FundingFriday: 5 Federal Grants Posted This Week

Highlighted below are five more funding opportunity announcements posted to Grants.gov in the first week of August. The activities for these funding opportunities include scientific research, web development, and health services, as well as disarmament and reducing emissions.

1) National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) – ROSES 2016: Interdisciplinary Research in Earth Science

NASA’s Interdisciplinary Research in Earth Science (IDS) program will fund grants to improve our capability for both prognostic predictions and retrospective simulations of the Earth system. The grant recipients will also advance our understanding of the vulnerabilities in human and biogeophysical systems and their relationships to climate extremes, thresholds, and tipping points. Meeting these goals requires approaches that integrate the traditional disciplines of the Earth sciences, as well as innovative and complementary use of models and data.

2) Department of Agriculture (USDA) – Food Emergency Response Network Cooperative Agreement

The Food Emergency Response Network (FERN) currently comprises federal, state, and local government regulatory laboratories with varying capacities to perform threat agent testing.

The FERN division in USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) is seeking to award a cooperative agreement for providing and maintaining, in its current active state, a secure communication and collaboration portal which will provide the FERN with capability, capacity and readiness data for the network member laboratories.

3) Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – Technical Assistance to India’s National AIDS Control Program

This cooperative agreement is to provide technical assistance for clinical mentoring, quality improvement, and capacity building with a focus on geographic area as per the President’s Emergency Plan For AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) India’s Country Operational Plan.

4) Department of State (DOS) – Weapons Removal & Abatement Grants, Panjsher, Afghanistan

The Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, Office of Weapons Removal and Abatement (PM/WRA) invites eligible organizations to submit grant applications for humanitarian demining, explosive ordnance disposal, and victim assistance programs in Afghanistan.

5) Department of Transportation (DOT) – Vessel Emission Reduction Pilot/Demonstration Project

The Maritime Administration (MARAD) Office of Environment is issuing this request for proposals for projects that demonstrate criteria air pollutant or greenhouse gas emissions reductions, and/or energy savings from marine vessels through either vessel repowering or the use of energy conservation technologies or measures.
