The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has posted a variety of grants and cooperative agreements to provide these, and other, programs related to health.
On Thursday alone, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) posted 18 opportunities related to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

1. HHS – Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Intervention Program
The purpose of the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) program is to develop a comprehensive and coordinated statewide Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) system of care. This care is targeted towards ensuring that newborns and infants are receiving appropriate and timely services, including screening, evaluation, diagnosis, and early intervention (EI).
The purpose of this program by the National Institute of Health (NIH) is to investigate the mechanisms mediating the interactions between sleep and diabetes-related metabolism using deep metabolic phenotyping approaches in healthy human populations and those with metabolic and/or sleep disorders.
In Bangladesh, USAID’s project will focus on improving nutritional practices during the important “first thousand days of life,” the period from when a woman becomes pregnant through the first two years of the resulting child’s life.
The activity builds upon successful earlier community-based nutrition interventions and is closely aligned with USAID’s Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Feed the Future (FTF) programs.
4. HHS – Kidney Precision Medicine Project Tissue Interrogation Sites (UG3/UH3)
This NIH program will use and develop innovative technologies to analyze human kidney tissue. The Tissue Interrogation Sites (TIS) will collaborate with the Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) Recruitment Sites and Central Hub to obtain and evaluate kidney biopsies from participants with acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease, create a kidney tissue atlas, define disease subgroups, and identify critical cells, pathways and targets for novel therapies.
