#FundingFriday: Nearly 100 Federal Grant Opportunities Posted to Grants.gov This Week

This week, nearly 100 grant opportunities have been posted to Grants.gov. Here are a few highlights from the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the Department of the Interior.

1. Department of Energy – Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing: Integrated Simulation Partnerships in Fusion Energy Sciences

The goal of this announcement is to select applications that can take advantage of today’s multi-petascale DOE high-performance computing (DOE HPC) systems to accelerate scientific discovery in strategically important areas of magnetic fusion energy science and address high-priority issues identified in recent community studies.

 

2. Environmental Protection Agency – Non-Construction Approaches to Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions Through Energy-Efficient Products and Practices

This notice announces the availability of funds and solicits proposals that advance the energy efficiency of products through product-specific technical research, test procedure development, and education that drives consumer adoption of efficient products and practices.

 

3. Department of Commerce – National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS) Land Acquisition and Construction Program for Fiscal Year 2017

The National Estuarine Research Reserve System (NERRS or System) consists of estuarine areas of the United States and its territories designated and managed for research and educational purposes. Each Reserve within the system is chosen to represent a different bio-geographic region and to include a variety of ecosystem types. By funding Reserve lead agencies and universities to conduct land acquisition and construction projects that support the NERRS mission, NOAA will strengthen protection of key land and water areas, enhance long-term protection of Reserve areas for research and education, and provide for facility and exhibit construction that meet the highest sustainable design standards possible.

 

4. Department of Health and Human Services – Summer Research Experiences for Students and Science Teachers

The National Institutes of Environmental Health Sciences hereby notify Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PD(s)/PI(s)) with R01, R21, R15, R35, R37, or P01 awards that funds are available for administrative supplements to support summer research experiences in environmental health science for high school students, college undergraduates, master’s degree candidates, medical students, secondary school science teachers, and science professors from R15/AREA grant-eligible institutions. Administrative supplements must support work within the scope of the original project.

 

5. Department of the Interior – Drought Response Program: Drought Contingency Planning Grants for Fiscal Year 2017

The objective of this FOA is to invite states, Indian tribes, irrigation districts, water districts, and other organizations with water or power delivery authority to leverage their money and resources by cost-sharing Drought Contingency Planning with Reclamation to build resilience to drought in advance of a crisis. Applicants under this FOA may request funding to develop a new drought plan or to update an existing drought plan (collectively, Drought Contingency Plans). Applicants may also request technical assistance from Reclamation for the development of elements of the Drought Contingency Plan (Project). Through this FOA, Reclamation seeks to support collaborative planning efforts that use a proactive approach to build long-term resiliency to drought.
