Federal government agencies support a variety of research and development grants. This week, agencies posted opportunities for research in the areas of plasma science, social science, neurology, agriculture, and more.
1. Plasma Science Facilities – Department of Energy (DOE)
The Fusion Energy Sciences (FES) program in the Office of Science (SC) is interested in receiving cooperative agreement proposals for research and operation of, and/or construction of, intermediate-scale facilities for frontier plasma science research.
User facilities are sought that can address frontier plasma science questions in multiple research areas identified in the 2015 Frontiers of Plasma Science Workshops report.
2. Social Science Research: Recreation Visitor Satisfaction Survey – Department of the Interior (DOI)
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is looking for assistance with a social science study in the form of an annual recreation visitor satisfaction survey.
Through this assistance agreement, the BLM wants to provide an opportunity for a cooperator to develop its academic social science research program, providing participants with hands-on opportunities to work in this field and allowing them to apply theoretical concepts in a practical, real-world setting.
3. Research Program Award – Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)
This National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding opportunity provides longer-term support and increased flexibility to Program Directors (PD) and Principal Investigators (PI) whose outstanding records of research achievement demonstrate their ability to make major contributions to neuroscience.
These grants will support the overall research programs of NIH’s NINDS-funded investigators for up to 8 years, at a level commensurate with a PDs or PIs recent support. Research supported through the award must be within the scope of the NINDS mission.
4. Special Research Grants Program, Potato Breeding Research – Department of Agriculture (USDA)
The purpose of this National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s (NIFA) grant program is to support potato (i.e., Solanum tuberosum L.) research programs that focus on varietal development and testing and potato varieties for commercial production.
As used herein, varietal development and testing is research using conventional breeding and/or biotechnological genetics to develop improved potato varieties. Aspects of evaluation, screening, and testing must support variety development.
