This edition of Federal Funding Spotlight features a list of recent opportunities open to state government applicants. The programs discussed below aim to:

NEA Sound Health Network, FY2020

The Sound Health program seeks to expand public understanding of the connections between music and wellness: how music is processed by the brain, how music can impact development and learning, and the therapeutic use of music for specific health conditions. Launched in 2016, Sound Health is a partnership between the National Institutes of Health (“NIH”) and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (“Kennedy Center”), in association with the National Endowment for the Arts (“Arts Endowment”) (individually known as “Partner” and collectively known as “the Partnership”).
Research Education: Short Courses on Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias for the Behavioral and Social Sciences

The goal of this FOA is to support short courses geared to behavioral and social scientists who have existing expertise in aging research and can make research contributions in Alzheimers disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD) with additional knowledge about the disease and related research resources. Fields of behavioral and social science research relevant for this FOA are health economics, labor economics, health services research, healthcare policy, public policy, demography, sociology, social epidemiology, psychology, and social neuroscience.
Clean Vessel Act

The Clean Vessel Act of 1992 was signed November 4, 1992 (106 Stat. 5039) and codified in 33 U.S.C. 1322. The Act established the Clean Vessel Act Grant Program to provide funding to the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Commonwealths, and territories of the United States of America (States). Funding allows States to construct, renovate, operate, and maintain pump-out stations and waste reception facilities for recreational boaters and to inform boaters about the use, benefits, and availability of pump-out stations and waste reception facilities.
Adaptive Science

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service works with others to conserve, protect, and enhance fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. To provide the best resource management, the Service uses a science-based, adaptive framework for setting and achieving broad-scale conservation objectives that strategically address the problems fish and wildlife will face in the future.
FY 2019 EDA Disaster Supplemental

This Economic Development Administration program will help communities and regions devise and implement long-term economic recovery strategies through a variety of non-construction and construction projects, as appropriate, to address economic challenges in areas where a Presidential declaration of a major disaster was issued.
