This program supports entrepreneurship training to veteran small business owners and entrepreneurs, with a special emphasis on entrepreneurship instruction to service-disabled veteran small business owners and entrepreneurs.

This week’s #FundingFriday post highlights grant opportunities supporting educational initiatives from the Departments of State and Education. The programs serve veterans, children with disabilities as well as populations in the Middle East, Pakistan and India.

1. Department of State, U.S. Mission to Pakistan – English Language Teacher Exchange

The project will promote the development of English language, classroom pedagogy, community engagement and leadership skills of the participants through first-hand experience and networking with English language teaching peers in the United States. Through teamwork activities, the program will develop participants’ classroom, leadership, communication skills, and teacher trainer skills. In addition to enhancing the participants’ ability to implement effective English language programs in Pakistan, the exchange program will provide participants a better understanding of the United States, its people, and its democratic values.

Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program

In early August, three entities, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, announced a nearly 50 percent reduction in Veterans experiencing homelessness since 2010. This success is attributable, in part, to an interagency effort to focus on serving the needs of veterans, assisting with everything from housing to job training.

Through this program, the U.S. Embassy in India seeks to raise awareness about the complex conversations surrounding climate change among the college youth in the North Indian states and territories of Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. Successful proposals will lay out plans for engaging university students in the major cities and educational hubs in these states.
